Samish Island Waterfront Community

Samish Island is a peaceful community located approx 1 ½ hours north of Seattle and approx 30 minutes south of Bellingham, and is surrounded by three bays: Samish Bay to the East and North, Padilla Bay to the West and South, and Alice Bay, a small bay off Samish Bay, on the Southeast side of the Island.  The island is just 3.5 miles long and about 1 mile across at the widest point.

Samish Island is a short distance from beautiful Chuckanut drive and the coastal towns of Edison, Fairhaven, Laconner and Anacortes.  Each town has it’s own coastal flair including wonderful dining and shopping experiences.

This tight knit community has a number of events on their Samish Island Events Calendar including the 16th Annual Samish Island Arts Festival will be held on July 28, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Samish Island Community Center.

This Summer Arts Festival features original art, glass art, fiber arts, woodwork, jewelry, pottery, cards, photography, and garden art.

The show will also feature our favorite food vendor, Sigi’s Breads and Cinnabuns. Sigis provides us coffee, lunch selections and breakfast breads and other pastries & breads to take home.

There is live music, and free door prizes are always a part of the fun.

While out on the Island I discovered Golden Artisan Spirits.  I was very impressed with this local cottage industry with national recognition.  I was warmly met by Bob Stilovich, co-owner, and his two friendly labs.  The spirits were exquisite with amazing views of bay.
